How to Make a Tiny "Cornhusk" Doll

Step 1:  Take 4 yard-long strands of raffia and a shorter strand.

The doll requires 5 long strands and one short strand.

Step 2:  Fold the 4 strands in half and then in half again

Use the shorter strand to tie it in the middle

Step 3:  Fold it in half again so the knot is inside.

Find the widest piece of raffia to be the “face” of the doll.

Step 4: Take a long thin piece of raffia and determine where you want the neck to be

Step 5:   Tie the strand in the back

Step 6:   Keep the neck strand separate because it will be used to wrap the arms.

Step 7:  Hold the doll between your fingers to indicate the length you want

Notice the excess ends .    These will be used to make the arms.

Step 8:  Trim above your fingers with scissors.

Step: 9 Now divide the lower part of the doll in half
separating the front half from the back half.

Step 10:  Slide the short trimmed off pieces up close to the doll’s neck
Hold them in place with your fingers while you reach for the neck strands.

Step 11: Take turns wrapping each end of the neck strands across the front of the doll’s torso, under the arms....

Step 12:  and back around again over what is now the chest area.

Step 13:  Use the rest of the strand to wrap the arm out about 1/2 inch......

Step 14:  then back to the “armpit”
